BEREAVEMENT & FUNERAL PRACTICES

Adas Israel mourns the loss of our loved ones… Your community is here for you in your time of need.

When death occurs, please call the synagogue at 202-362-4433, so that we may inform the clergy and assist you.

Business hours: Ask for David Polonsky, Executive Director or Carole Klein, Director of Operations.
After business hours: Call the synagogue number above, and press "2" to be connected to a staff member on call (or call 301-421-5271 for an answering service who will page the staff member on call).
On Yom Tov and Shabbat: While detailed funeral arrangements should not be made, a staff member on call can still help. Call 301-421-5271 to page the staff member on call.

Bereavement Committee

We encourage our members to consider using the help of our Bereavement Committee for funeral arrangements. One of the most significant benefits of Adas Israel membership is knowing that if (God Forbid) you and your family find yourselves in a period of grief, your community will be there to support you, and to help you with all of the arrangements. Our Bereavement Committee is comprised of nearly twenty dedicated Adas members who will help you coordinate every aspect of the grieving process – from funeral arrangements, to Jewish ritual matters, to bereavement posts, to moral support, to connection with clergy members. We are here for you.
